Welcome to Belle Isle St Bernards
Belle Isle Saint Bernard is a show kennel located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Our family has owned pet St. Bernards for many years and since being introduced to the show scene/breed in 2002, my compassion for the breed has grown much more.
My first show dog, CH Lincoln, was purchased as a puppy a year later, a typey and lovely male. Shortly after, I purchased two girls whom are to be a foundational framework to build upon. The interesting thing about this breed is the vast type - in that it is distinct from other breeds in the head, coat, expression, temperment, pedigree, and silhouette desing amoungst the breed - that in all the substance, size, and nature of the St. Bernard they are historically significant. Thus, the history of the breed is romantic and vast and I am continually learning more and more about the breed every day.
Belle Isle is dedicated to looking for and trying to breed St. Bernards with qualities of caring Temperment, Type, Silhouette Compositions, Size and Substance. Size in the matter of height and bone, but most importantly proportion - and the importance of trying to breed for the term upstanding, which is an important aspect of correct breed type. We continue to look for these qualites in our dogs and their pedigrees.
I am a member of the SBCA (Saint Bernard Club of America), NISBC (Northern Illinois Saint Bernard Club), and the INSBC (Indiana Saint Bernard Club). One of the great attributes of being involved with saints is the oppurtunity to meet many nice and down-to-earth-people in the Saint Bernard world.
